Please help retired Firefighter Rob Okorn in his fight with cancer.
Rob joined the FDNY May 6, 2001 and assisted with the recovery efforts at the World Trade Center. Rob was a member of Ladder 158 for all of his career. On June 17, 2019 Rob retired due to a work-related injury. Rob has always made time for his wide circle of friends, from his Queens crew, where he grew up, to his University of Delaware classmates who he still sees every year. From his Merrick neighbors to all his brothers in the FDNY. His passion for boating and fishing and the NY Islanders is well known. But most important to Rob is his beautiful family, wife Mireya and sons Luke and Ryan.… and of course, his dog Whiskey! Rob was recently diagnosed with
pancreatic cancer. He is 53 yrs old. Let’s rally to show our support for this great man and his family in this very difficult time.
UPDATE 4/8/25
Thank you to everyone who has donated to Rob and his family as he fights this fight. The past few weeks had been good for Rob and fairly quiet. However, this past Friday he has hit a little bump in the road and the doctors are trying to get the bottom of it. I am sure they will figure it out. Rob is strong and a fighter! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
My two youngest are of a similar age to Rob’s two boys. I have had my own serious health issues to overcome but nothing like what Rob is facing. I can’t even imagine not being there for my kids to help them navigate this crazy world we live in. Not being there for weddings, vacations, holidays or spoiling the grandkids. It’s breaking my heart just thinking about it.
Please help us help Rob and his family get through these tough times.
